Welcoming new Trustees
We will be welcoming three new trustees to our Board this May, during a period of growth and opportunity for our charity.
With several of our board coming to the end of their time with NCO this year, we were so pleased with the number and high profile of the applications to join our board, during our open recruitment last year.
Following our recent announcement of incoming Chair Michael Eakin, we are delighted to announce Mark Swift, Chris Ladkin and Charlotte Moar will be joining the NCO board of trustees this May.
Our Chief Executive Sophie Lewis said of the appointments, “The breadth of expertise our new Trustees bring will be a huge support in realising NCO’s ambitions for its next chapter”.
Mark Swift joins the Board with more than 30 years’ experience in IT and a distinguished career in cyber security. Currently CISO and Data Protection Officer for a global commodity trader, his work has encompassed partnerships with financial institutions, government bodies, NGOs and international think tanks. Alongside his professional life, Swift is an active musician and a committed supporter of young players, encouraging his own children in their musical studies and performing as a flautist.
Also joining is Bristol based business leader and long serving charity trustee Chris Ladkin, whose 50 year career in financial services has been combined with extensive governance roles across education and the arts. His recent contributions include board positions at St George’s Brandon Hill and Bristol Beacon, and he brings a strong track record in fundraising and organisational stewardship. A former head chorister of St Albans Cathedral and lifelong choral singer, he described his appointment: “It is an absolute privilege to have been appointed a trustee of NCO. Having loved music from a young age and having been classically trained from that young age, it is wonderful to help young musicians achieve ambitions in the music world.”
Completing the trio is Charlotte Moar, an experienced finance director with a 25 year career in the NHS and current governance roles at national level. She serves as a Non Executive Director on the House of Lords Commission where she chairs the Audit & Risk Committee, and sits on the Audit & Risk Committees of HMRC, the Law Society and Hammersmith & Fulham Council. Her previous charity roles include Chair of Trustees at Bristol Zoological Society and Treasurer of Comic Relief. A musician herself, singing with the Parliament Choir and active as an organist, she expressed her enthusiasm for joining NCO and supporting the next generation of orchestral talent: “I am delighted to join NCO, working with colleagues to support and celebrate young musicians and the joy of music.”
