Join Our Summer Orchestral Days
Orchestral Days are back this summer!
We are excited to announce new dates for our Orchestral Days. Following our recent spring Days in Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire and North East Somerset, which were full of creativity, energy and enthusiasm, we are excited to bring them back this summer.
“Thank you so much for the joy you gave my children on Saturday. They both came out beaming,” said one parent, “and for one of them in particular, who had never had the opportunity to create music as part of an orchestra, you really opened their eyes.”
These free one-day workshops are designed for young musicians in school years 4 to 9 who are learning traditional orchestral instruments at around Grades 2 to 5. No auditions are needed, just a love of making music.
Each day is packed with fun and learning. In the morning, participants play a specially arranged ensemble piece under the guidance of conductor Veronica Urrego and our expert tutor team. The afternoon focuses on creativity, giving young musicians the chance to explore composition and improvisation with composer Richard Shrewsbury. The day ends with a short sharing performance for families.
We’re proud to be working with regional partners including Hull Music Service, Humber Music Hub, East Riding Schools’ Music Service and Lincolnshire Music Service. Together, we’re bringing high-quality and inclusive music-making opportunities to young people in their own communities.
