NCO is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all the children it works with and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

NCO Trustees are committed to practices that protect children from harm. The Board has designated a Trustee to take leadership responsibility for safeguarding arrangements at board level, working with the Senior Management Team to ensure a clear line of accountability for the commissioning and/or provision of services designed to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

NCO’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and Code of Practice applies to all applicants for volunteering and employment, all new starters and all existing staff both full-time employees and freelance workers (including conductors, tutors, support team and other members of the residency team, volunteers, audition adjudicators, photographers and videographers).

All staff and volunteers who have unsupervised access to, or contact with, children are required to hold a current enhanced level Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly known as CRB).

NCO’s Board of Trustees reviews the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and Code of Practice annually. The policy at the link below was reviewed in December 2023.
