NCO Guide to #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday is a day to do good stuff for charity, straight after Black Friday and Cyber Monday – and there are a whole host of ways to show your support for NCO’s young musicians.

Check out our handy #GivingTuesday guide:

1.     Double your donation with corporate match-funding

Many employers are willing to match their employees’ donations to charitable causes by using corporate match-funding. If you work for a large company or business, there’s a good chance that they may have a charitable foundation in place. If you’d like to donate to NCO and relish the thought of having your donation doubled (or tripled!), speak to your HR department to see if corporate match-funding is available in your workplace.

2.     EasyFundraising.org.uk

One simple way to help us is by signing up to EasyFundraising.org.uk. Once you’ve registered NCO as your chosen charity, you can collect free donations each time you shop online through the website with one of their many big name partner retailers. We were delighted to raise over £400 within the first few months of signing up to this fundraising platform.

3.     Become a Friend of NCO

We already consider you one, so why not make it official?! From as little as £4 per month you could help ensure that future generations of talented young musicians will continue to benefit from a world-class orchestral education. Click here for more information about becoming a Friend of NCO.

4.     Leave a gift to NCO in your will

Once you have looked after your loved ones, we would be delighted if you would consider remembering NCO in your will. This autumn we launched the 1978 Association, named to commemorate the year in which NCO was founded by the late Vivienne Price MBE. The 1978 Association recognises alumni of the orchestras, their families and supporters everywhere who wish to help the future of NCO by leaving a gift in their will.

A legacy does not need to be a large amount, but however much you give will go to underpin the long term financial security and development of NCO. Click here for more information on remembering NCO in your will.

5.     Get connected

See an NCO post on Facebook that tickles your fancy? Simple flex your fingers to send a comment, or gently press on the like button. Wondering how this can help NCO? Everything that you interact with on Facebook will appear in the timeline’s of your friends – thus, helping our Facebook posts to reach an even wider audience. Similarly, you could retweet us on Twitter, share our YouTube videos or tap twice on our Instagram photos. Social media: It’s a thumb up from us!

6.     Wear your support on your sleeve

Here at NCO we have a large range of merchandise available. From Christmas cards to highlighters, lip balms to concert DVDs, hoodies to photographs, there’s something to please everyone.

7.     Opt-in for Gift Aid

This one is incredibly simple: If you are a UK tax payer, charities like NCO can claim an additional 25% on donations. This comes at no additional cost to you, and means that £1.00 donations can be turned into £1.25 donations! We think it’s pretty important, and we hope you’d agree.

The next time you donate to NCO, please say yes to Gift Aid if you are eligible. If you’ve donated to us in the last 4 years - but didn’t select Gift Aid - simply download NCO's Gift Aid declaration form here and we’ll be able to claim it back. Let’s get this ticked off the to-do list.

8.     Spend time on us, not money

We are incredibly fortunate to have a committed team of volunteers who support NCO in all sorts of ways. If you would like to offer your time at rehearsals, concerts or special events, then we would love to hear from you.

9.     Become an honorary member of the Marketing Team

One of NCO’s main sources of income is from concert ticket sales; this means we are always looking at new ways to promote our events to new and existing audiences. If you have any bright ideas - please let us know! If an NCO concert is coming up in your local area, another way to help us is by taking a stack of flyers and distributing them in places like your nearby libraries, schools, churches and community centres. Get in touch with us today.

10.  Write a review of an NCO concert

Fancy yourself as a critic? We welcome reviews of our concerts, so if you’ve recently been blown away by an NCO performance and want to shout about it, please submit a review to our Marketing Team and we’ll upload it to the website.

11.  Organise an NCO fundraiser

Bake sales, sponsored silences and fancy dress days are just some of the ways that you can have fun whilst raising cash for NCO. If you’d like to host an NCO fundraiser, get in touch with our Marketing Team and we’ll send you promotional materials to jazz up your event. Happy hosting!

12.  Donate!

If you’d simply like to donate money to NCO, you can do this by cheque or BACs payment, or via JustGiving. Our promise to you is that each donation will be used to support our young musicians.
