Applications to audition for NCO's 2018 orchestras close on 31 August 2017.
NCO is searching for the next generation of talented young musicians to fill our 2018 orchestras. If you - or anyone you know - is aged 7-13 years with a passion for playing an orchestral instrument, this could be your chance to join Great Britain's premier symphony orchestras for children!
Promising young musicians who gain a place with the NCO will attend residential courses at which they receive expert mentoring and tuition, with an emphasis on addressing the particular needs of musically talented children. Conductors and music tutors are drawn from major national orchestras, conservatoires and specialist music schools. Each course culminates in a performance, with the older participants playing at major concert venues, such as the Barbican Centre and Leeds Town Hall. If you'd like a flavour of what you can expect, head over to the NCO YouTube channel today.
Auditions will take place around the country between October and November 2017. NCO will hit the road visiting 29 different audition venues, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, and you can find your closest venue by clicking here.
Nobody should be put off from applying because of membership fees: It is possible to join the NCO for free, all thanks to the NCO Bursary Scheme which exists to support the families who need the most help. Find out more information here.
