Welcome to 2016, which I hope will be a happy and prosperous one for all associated with NCO.
The joyous concert given by Main and Under 13s Orchestras at Fairfield Halls on 20th December was a wonderful way to round off a successful 2015. The evening before, NCO held its first Annual General Meeting under the new constitutional arrangements. Thanks are due to all NCO’s new Members for a really constructive and positive meeting. As part of the formal business, the interim Board stood down and eight of the nine interim Trustees put themselves forward for re-election. All were re-elected unanimously by the Members and a ‘full’ Board has now been formed. My fellow Trustees and I are privileged to have received this mandate and look forward to steering NCO towards further successes.
We are disappointed to let you know that Dominic Jewel has unexpectedly decided not to take up the post of Managing Director with NCO, after formalities around the terms of the role proved difficult to conclude. We wish Dominic every success as he pursues opportunities elsewhere. The Board is taking steps to recruit an appropriate person to take on this key role and to build on the progress made during 2015. Further announcements will be made in due course.
Rehearsals for NCO’s six regional orchestras start in a couple of weeks, and the team is already busy with preparations for the first residential courses in March and April.
My fellow Trustees and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at NCO concerts through the year, and wish all of our 2016 Orchestra members a magical year of music.
With my best wishes,
