We are delighted to have launched our brand new legacy scheme – ‘The 1978 Association’. The scheme is named to commemorate the year in which NCO’s Founding Patron, the late Vivienne Price MBE, founded this remarkable organisation. Anyone who indicates that they intend to leave NCO a gift in their Will is automatically enrolled as a member of NCO’s 1978 Association.
NCO recognises that the most important people are your family. If there is anything left after they are taken care of, we would be delighted if you would consider leaving a gift to us. Leaving a legacy to NCO is a wonderful way to remember a cause you care about and will ensure that we can continue to provide hundreds of 7-14 year olds with a truly life-changing experience.
Legacies to UK charities like NCO are exempt from inheritance tax (which is currently 40%), so it may help reduce the amount of tax payable if your estate is over the exempt threshold.
How do I leave a gift in my Will?
It is never too early to start writing your will. Drawing up a Will is easier that you think, although it is important that you use the services of a solicitor to help you. NCO is proud to be a part of Remember a Charity - you can visit their website for further information about making a Will, finding a local solicitor, and leaving a legacy.
You can amend your Will at any time
If you already have a Will, adding NCO as a beneficiary is straightforward – you can add a short written instruction called a codicil. You can choose to leave a specific amount, the amount left over from your estate after your loved ones have been provided for, or particular possessions such as shares, investments or property.
Remember a Charity Week
Remember a Charity Week runs from 12-18 September 2016. It is an annual awareness week designed to encourage more people to consider leaving a gift to charity when writing a Will. Remember a Charity works with over 150 charities, including NCO, to highlight the importance of making a Will, and also the huge benefit that legacy gifts to charities can bring by helping them towards a more financially secure future.
