Players from Main and Under 13 Orchestras invited to take part in a strings workshop hosted by Nicola Benedetti at BBC Maida Vale Studios on Sunday 3 June.
As part of NCO’s 40th anniversary celebrations, the charity is inviting young musicians from the Main and Under 13 Orchestras to take part in an exciting strings workshop and sharing event hosted by NCO alumna and Vice President Nicola Benedetti MBE.
The workshop will take place on Sunday 3 June at the BBC Maida Vale Studios in London, where 62 young musicians will learn from, and perform with, one of the most sought after instrumentalists of this generation.
Fellow ex-member, conductor Jonathan Bloxham will also be working with NCO as he leads the children in rehearsals for two pieces of music: Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Piazolla’s Libertango. As well as receiving first class playing and performance tips from Nicola, the orchestra members will have the opportunity to ask her their most pressing questions in a Q&A session between Benedetti and Catherine Arlidge MBE, NCO’s Artistic and Educational Director.
The event marks the official announcement of NCO’s new vision and curriculum, which we are delighted to share with a small audience of invited guests who will be coming to watch the musicians perform. This syllabus places the children's creativity at the heart of all activity, already demonstrated in recent projects such as No Place Like... NCO.
