This week it was revealed that saxophonist Jess Gillam will be NCO's Artist in Residence Summer 2019.
The former BBC Young Musician of the Year has made room in her jam-packed schedule to spend time with NCO during August. The sax star will visit the young musicians in the Main Orchestra during their summer residential course and performance at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, on Saturday 10 August.
Conducted by NCO alum, Jonathan Bloxham, the orchestra will create an electrifying atmosphere onstage as they perform a selection of classic and contemporary pieces. Jess lends her talents to ‘Escapades’ from John Williams’ slick, jazz infused score for the 2002 film, Catch Me If You Can.
Full repertoire and information how to buy tickets will be released soon.
Amid awards season appearances, releasing a debut album, becoming the youngest ever presenter at @BBCRadio3 and challenging us all with her brilliant piece in the @guardian, @JessGillamSax has somehow found time to become NCO's Artist in Residence in August.
