NCO announced today that Managing Director Carrie Sage is to step down at the end of the year after three years in the role.
The Board and Carrie have been working on succession planning for this key post during 2017 and will move to advertise for the position shortly.
Carrie said: "It has been the most incredible privilege to work with this amazing organisation for the past three years. We have strengthened, evolved, and adapted during this time – all to ensure that the vision and ethos of NCO can continue to serve the interests of exceptional young musicians across the UK well into the future.
"It has been wonderful to be able to welcome Catherine Arlidge as Artistic and Educational Director and to support her as she begins to develop exciting new plans and opportunities for NCO.
"NCO has established secure foundations to underpin the next phase of its development. Last Sunday (27 August) we reached the end of an outstanding summer programme of courses and concerts which delighted our young musicians and their audiences. We are efficiently organised, lean and focused, staffed and supported by a brilliant team of committed professionals. This feels the right moment for me to hand my responsibilities on to a new Managing Director who can bring further energy and ideas to NCO and take the organisation on into what will undoubtedly be a bright future. I am really excited to be working with my Board colleagues and Catherine this autumn to support the Board’s appointment of a new MD."
